Fresh Eggs For Sale $1.75 Dozen

This has been a busy month. We celebrated two birthdays, our youngest daughter Stacy turned 25 on the 5th, and my mom turned 71 on the 25th. All the family was here for hamburgers, cake and ice cream! We have quite a bit of rain. Roger was finally able to move three grain bins that he bought at an estate auction here to the farm. He plans on putting the corn and milo in the bins since the grain prices are so low. The bins are in fairly good shape so it shouldn't take to much to get them up and going. Right now the guys are putting the augers and dryers on.
We went to the Mayes County Fair to watch Blaine and Katie show their heifers. Blaine got Breed Champion with Sis and Katie got Reserve Breed Champion Maintainer with TLC Velvet. Monday night was the Premium Auction so we went out to support all the kids that made the sale who bought feed from us, then the following Monday we went to Rogers County Premium Auction. You can always tell which kids work so hard with their animals and spent time with them.
Harvest time is here so Roger has been busy trying to get the milo out before the next rain! It seems to be yielding about 90 bushel to the acre, to bad the prices are so low. The third day into cutting the milo the big green machine decides to have it's first break down of the season. It never fails, but this time it threw a bearing which of course was not easily replaceable! Roger had to order the bearing which wasn't cheap plus have to wait for 3 days. So in the meantime the corn is ready, the weatherman is calling for rain so Roger had Randy Drake come and cut the corn and get it put up in the bin. The moods get pretty testy around here when there is grain in the fields needing harvested and nothing to do it with because it's broke down! The part finally got here and back to the field....well it lasted about thirty minutes and the same bearing went out again but this time it took a shaft with it! For the last few years Roger has been wanting a newer combine and so he decided it's time now before the beans get ready.
The log cabin has really taken shape the last few days. Orva Miller and his crew are coming to put the metal roof on. It won't be long and it will be totally dried in.
