November 1st....It was thirty-two years ago on this date Roger and I got engaged...we were seniors in high school. Now today here we are blessed with three great kids and six beautiful grandbabies! Of course I have to give credit to our two son-in-laws and our daughter-in-law.  Looking back we wouldn't change a thing. Our daughter Amber celebrated her twenty-eight birthday on November 2nd.
Roger is in full combine mode. The soybeans are ready and so far the weather is cooperating. This makes for a good mood around the farm! We got the newer combine so he is making progress across the fields without breakdowns...YEAH!! This seems to be the best soybean crop we have had in a long time. The fields are yielding around forty to forty-five bushel to the acre....I don't want to brag on Roger on to much but he does know his business on what seed to buy and how to get the soil ready for planting.
It's that time of year when the feed store gets busy selling hay, creep and cubes. Some folks are still undecided what to feed this year to their cattle. Can't decide if they want to go with tubs or cubes. They weren't happy with the liquid feed last year even though it was quite a bit cheaper by the ton. But you have to feed your cattle folks if you expect them to produce for ya and give them quality hay!
We have rain this weekend so Roger and I attended the Log Home & Timber Show in Missouri. We sent Robert and his wife to it also since he will be finishing the inside of our cabin so he could get any questions he had answered by folks who know what they are doing.  And of course we found out some things weren't done correctly...big shock! J & R Log Homes based out of Arkansas are coming to clean the logs inside and out and restain them. The logs were never cleaned and treated properly.  They stained over mud and mold, so all that has to come off. Have I mentioned yet the joy of getting a cabin has been turned into disgust!! Surely it will turn around soon!
We went to my moms for thanksgiving dinner.  She out did herself as usual....there was so much food and desserts. When dinner was over we left for Branson, Missouri.  We rented a four bedroom condo at Thousand Hills Resort so all the kids came up to spend the weekend. What a great time! The black Friday shopping experience began with Amber and Stacy leaving the condo at 11:30pm and not returning until 7:00am. These two are dedicated shoppers!! They were so wound when they got back.....neither one of them could think about settling down and sleeping until around 10:00am. Amber slept for a couple of hours and Stacy for about forty-five minutes. That evening Stacy and I went to Silver Dollar City....all the Christmas lights were just beautiful.  The guys took their dirt bikes so they went riding the trails at Chadwick during the day and had allot of stories to tell at night. On Saturday night they all went to the Dixie Stampede, I got to stay at the condo with baby Jake....I cuddled with him the whole time they were gone....he is so sweet. Sunday rolled around and it was time to pack up and go home, but what great memories we made to take home with us.
