We made it home from Branson and the cold front welcomed us. The north wind has been frigid...temperature highs have been in the high twenties and low thirties. Brent and Taylor have been making hay deliveries. The feed store is selling cubes and creep as fast as we can get it. The 20% all-natural tubs are really a hot item this season also. I appreciate all of our customers but this time of year is my favorite just dealing with all the farmers and ranchers. The coffee pot is on and they will come in to drink coffee, shoot the bull and take feed with them! I know for a fact that men think women gossip....they can out do us anyday....I just sit there and laugh!
December 4th our son Daniel turned thirty, and our son-in-law Charlie turned twenty-nine. They share the same birthday! Brent's dad smoked meats, Amber and Nichole fixed side dishes, so all the family was here to celebrate the birthdays. On Saturday the 5th we went to Eden Mennonite Church to attend our grandson Dillon's piano recital. He was the first one to play and he did amazing. He played Jolly Ole Saint Nicholas and never missed a note. It melted this grandmas heart!
On Monday I took mom to Edmond for her doctors appointment....her foot and ankle are looking much better....it has been slow healing but she has the patience of Jobe!
Thursday evening we had our Employee Christmas party at Molly's Landing in Catoosa. Everyone had a great time! Our table was set-up in front of the fireplace and the service was great!
Roger and I went down to the cabin to check on the progress and noticed that some idiot had shot out the front bedroom window with a BB gun!! Come to find out the idiot bb bandit shot out the church van window up the hill, several neighbors vehicles and a mobile home window!! I went to the sheriffs office to file a report so they are going to try to catch them. I hope they do....I want my window paid for by someone other than me!!
Had lunch with Joan and Carol at Maggie's Mexican Place in Pryor. This was the first time I had met Carol and what a great lady. She was a hoot and you put the three of us together we never lacked for conversation.
We went to Southside Christian School for our grandsons Philip and Ryan's Christmas Play. It was so cute! Philip stood up there and just sang his little heart out. Ryan was supposed to play a shepherd but last minute they decided to put him as Joseph, front and center. Of course we had the front row filled with family, cameras and camcorders so about ten minutes into the program his eyes welled up and he cut loose. It was so overwhelming for him all these people staring, so he got to come sit on my lap, he was done!!
The weather has been so cold and the weatherman says we will have a white Christmas. Travis Meyer finally got it right, on Christmas Eve the snow began falling and it went to blizzard conditions quick. I called the kids and told them if they wanted to stay home it would be fine but they all made it over, after all Makayla and Jake would be having their first Christmas! The grandkids were all dressed up in their matching pajamas, so cute!!
The snow is so deep Roger has had to feed with the tractor. The cattle seem to be making it alright with the temperatures in the single digits. We haven't seen a winter like this in twenty six years! It sure makes me wonder if the old-timers are right when they say it's going to be a bad one.
